Musaic Principal composers Gary Malkin and Dan Alvarez have been "Thriving!"
At a time when the world is going haywire, it's important to know which music production teams have stepped forward in support of projects that will leave the world a little better than they found it.
Perhaps more than any composing team in the world, Malkin and Alvarez have been creating music for projects that are making a real impact.
Case in point: THRIVE: What on Earth Will It Take?
Malkin and Alvarez just completed a complex and richly textured score for the feature length documentary, Thrive: What on Earth Will It Take? , which was released on 11.11.11 in ten languages worldwide. Produced by Foster and Kimberly Gamble of Clear Compass Media, this film is a culmination of a lifetime journey seeking answers to the most critical questions of our time, including: Is it possible for humans to thrive? And if so, why aren't we? Revealing information that has never been revealed before, the film lifts the veil of secrecy around much of what has been driving the financial forces in America and the world. One can experience the movie by going to www.thrivemovement.com.
Dan has recently finished the post mix on a new documentary film by director Michael Stillwater. "Shining Night" is a portrait of choral music composer Morten Lauridsen. Inspired by the silence of nature, Lauridsen composes works of timeless beauty on his island home in the Pacific Northwest. Through the eyes of other composers, conductors, singers and music students, the story of Lauridsen unfolds- and his music is performed by Volti, Con Anima, SF Choral Society, and the Aberdeen (Scotland) University Choral Society, together with soundtracks from Polyphony, the Dale Warland Singers, and The Singers/Minnesota Choral Artists. Filmed in the United States and United Kingdom, 'Shining Night' gives viewers a look into the private life of a most remarkable artist considered a genius in the field of musical creation. It is then no coincidence that our very own Gary Malkin appears in this film as an interviewee, as he studied under Lauridsen in his days as a student at USC! Indeed an honor and a privilege.

PANGEA DAY: Presenting the Power of Transformational Film
A few years ago TED curator Chris Anderson, the annual winner of the TED award,, and NOKIA set out to create a one-of-a-kind media event, one which would promote the unity of all life and demonstrate how powerfully media could be used for transformation, justice and world peace. Composers Gary Malkin and Dan Alvarez were commissioned to create the opening theme music for the global event, simul-cast on all continents for four hours, translated into 5 languages.
